The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation of New York has awarded a significant grant to the University of the South for the Collaborative for Southern Appalachian and Place-Based Studies. Building on a growing relationship between the University and the South and Yale University, the Collaborative looks toward an interdisciplinary program of curriculum, instruction, and research that will shed light on the literature, politics, history, society, health, and ecology of Southern Appalachia.
