From the Center for Teaching:
APRIL 13, 3:00-5:00 p.m. – co-sponsored by the Collaborative for Southern Appalachian Studies: “The photographs we see, the photographs we make: framing the visual narrative.” A workshop by Chandler Sowden, Mellon post-baccalaureate fellow at the Collaborative for Southern Appalachian Studies. Her description: “We look at images everyday, and we reference photographs frequently. Understanding the way we interpret photographs, and the way they become parts of a larger narrative may be a valuable tool for conversations across a variety of disciplines. This workshop will introduce some fundamental ways of reading photographs, and how their making and construction may frame discussions in and out of the classroom.” Appropriate for any discipline. Please email Betsy (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you plan to attend. Light snacks will be served.
