The Collaborative for Southern Appalachian Studies is pleased to announce the first in a series of Sewanee-Yale Conversations on Place, being held to explore the scholarship of place and opportunities for greater collaboration between Sewanee: The University of the South, Yale, and their respective community partners. We will gather in Beersheba Springs, TN to deliberate on:
  • How might we define the scholarship of place? How does this tie in with the university’s academic work and social missions?
  • How do we create an academic program focused on place at the University of the South utilizing meaningful collaborations across disciplines and institutions?

Our first Conversation will be on Saturday, October 24th, with introductory events during the late afternoon/evening of Friday, October 23rd and a concluding gathering the morning of Sunday, October 25th. We will meet at the Beersheba Springs Assembly.

We have a wonderful group of collaborators coming in from Yale to participate in this conversation, and we encourage any interested faculty at Sewanee to join us!
